Media Reviews
Praise for Elspeth Hart and the School for Show-offs: Elspeth Hart is piles of fun from beginning to end. You can't help but root for Elspeth, who's forced to contend with a memorable cast of wonderfully unlikeable characters as she unravels the mystery of her predicament. Bursting with intrigue and unpleasantness! Guy Bass --
I thoroughly enjoyed it, it romps along with great pace, good jokes and horrible characters. And the wonderful illustrations complement the text beautifully. A.F. Harrold --
A wonderful tale full of fabulous villains and hideous show-offs all brought brilliantly to life by the pen of James Brown. With energy and wicked humour, James illustrations convey a gentle emotion and a sharp quirkiness, a perfect accompaniment to the text. David Roberts --
Very funny and deliciously horrible. Holly Webb --
Hilariously written, wonderfully illustrated and with superbly depicted characters, I can see this being immensely popular - it's refreshingly different and Elspeth is excellent. Parents in Touch --
Author Bio
Sarah Forbes was born in Aberdeen and currently lives in Edinburgh. She used to work on magazines, interviewing pop stars for a living, but now she works as an editor, helping other writers to create their own stories. James Brown filled in an important careers questionnaire when he was 13 and it told him he was definitely going to be a teacher and an illustrator. And it was right! James studied Creative Writing at St Andrews (where he kept writing for children and drawing all over everything). He lives in Nottingham and draws in front of a mirror.
