Michael Picard trained in mathematical logic and analytic philosophy. He is now lecturer in Psychology at the University of Victoria, Canada. He also moderates Cafe Philosophy, a weekly community-based philosophy group in Victoria, and runs www.philosophy-shop.com. Ian Whitelaw has a degree in anthropology from the University of Durham, UK. He lives on Vancouver Island, Canada, where he works as a freelance writer and editor.
