Shrinking Sam

by Miriam Latimer (Author)

Synopsis

What if your pencil was the size of a crocodile, or just one pea filled your whole tummy at dinner? And what if No One would listen to you? Well that's just what happens to Shrinking Sam, who ends up knee-high to a grasshopper! Will someone listen to his shrinking pleas before it's too late? The key features include: lead title, supported by national and regional PR campaigns; from the illustrator of The Prince's Bedtime (978-1-84148-549-2), released in Autumn 2006; children will relate to the story's message of feeling overlooked as they laugh at the whimsical storyline and the friendship between Sam and Izzy; and powerful female character: Sam is rescued by Izzy, whose family also ignores her, and finds out from her how to grow again.

Author Bio
Miriam Latimer grew up in St Albans, Hertfordshire, and studied illustration at the University of the West of England, gaining a first class honours degree in 2003. She says of her work: 'I spend a lot of time daydreaming, thinking of ideas - that's the easy bit. It's then calming the ideas down and putting them in a readable format that is the hard part.' Miriam is now a full-time illustrator and her first picture book was published in 2006. This is Miriam's second project with Barefoot Books, following The Prince's Bedtime (9781841485492). She lives with her husband in Hertfordshire.
