George Carter, a gold medal winner at the Chelsea Flower Show, is internationally renowned for his garden design. He is the author of Herbs and Containers (both Ryland Peters & Small) and lives in Norfolk. Richard Bird, an expert on gardening and plants, has written many books, including The Kitchen Garden and Beds & Borders for Ryland Peters & Small. He maintains a large garden at his 15th-century cottage in Kent.
