500 Quick Meals: The Only Compendium of Quick Meals You'll Ever Need

by Deborah Gray (Author)

Synopsis

Everyone is short of time, but everyone needs to eat, and eat well. The recipes in this book are stuffed with delicious ideas for all occasions, be it a fancy dinner party, an impromptu supper with friends or a convenient lunch for the family. The recipes in this book are wholesome and represent a balanced diet, but many of the variations will be suitable for those on low-fat, gluten-free or vegetarian diets. While not eschewing the value of canned and frozen goods, which are a godsend to the busy cook, these ingredients are used in moderation and with discretion, exploiting their value as a shortcut in a recipe, rather than relying on them as meal substitutes. The book contains both comforting familiar recipes and a selection of creative, more unusual recipes drawing on international cuisine, contemporary palates and the availablity of many exciting ingredients in the supermarket. You will discover that success comes with every meal!

Author Bio
DEBORAH GRAY has had an interest in cookery since working as a Saturday girl in a trendy health food cafe in London. Following a spell working in publishing in California, she returned to London and began working on extended cookery partworks. She went on to write a number of family cookbooks and has been a cookery editor on very many more. She returned to America with her family, but is now settled in the Wiltshire countryside where she has access to wonderful fresh farm produce and country air. Her children have recently finished college, during which time she has regularly supplied help and advice on what and how to cook, often while the youngsters were standing in the supermarket pouring over the reduced price items or staring into an almost empty cupboard.
