Ancient Egypt: Pyramids and Hieroglyphs

Ancient Egypt: Pyramids and Hieroglyphs

by Aidan Dodson (Author)

Synopsis

From the opulent splendour of the Pharaohs' tombs to hieroglyphic laundry lists, "Ancient Egypt" is a comprehensive look at two surviving symbols of the Ancient Egyptians' achievements - the pyramids and the hieroglyphs. Each and every royal pyramid in Ancient Egypt is covered, with information on its architecture and construction. A complete history of the hieroglyphs is also given, from the earliest marks on pottery to the last known example, and the intriguing story of how they were decoded and who made it possible. Authoritatively written by expert Egyptologist, Dr. Aidan Dodson, and beautifully illustrated with colour photographs of ancient sites, texts, artefacts and wall paintings, this book is a must for anyone interested in the culture and society of this great civilization.
