Complete Powerboating Manual

Complete Powerboating Manual

by Geoff Dekenah (Author)

Synopsis

Choosing a powerboat to suit you and your family should be a fun-filled experience as you explore the choices, what powerboats do, how they function and what is economically feasible. All of these relate to the type of water on which you plan to use your boat and the uses you intend for it. "The Complete Powerboating Manual" covers all you need to know about handling and caring for powered craft, from personal water craft (PWC) all the way up to big cabin cruisers and deep-sea game fishing boats. Chapters cover different types of hulls, engines, propulsion systems, and electronics and maintenance of these systems, but the book also covers the rules of the road, navigation and safety, together with powerboating as a sport (bass and big-game fishing, water-skiing, wake-boarding), launching and recovery and maintenance and care. The book is aimed at owners and users of pleasure craft and will not cover commercial applications.

Geoff Dekenah, a journalist by profession, has been involved with powerboating since 1969, when he was invited to start a powerboating magazine. Over the years, he has edited a number of boating magazines and worked extensively in the boat business.
