J. C. Trewin was a stage historian and drama critic. Author of 50 books and editor of 50 more, he was Literary Editor for the Observer newspaper. He lectured on Shakespeare in Britain, Europe, and North America, and was President of the Shakespeare Club of Stratford-upon-Avon.
