Quilted Planet: A Sourcebook of Quilts from Around the World

Quilted Planet: A Sourcebook of Quilts from Around the World

by Celia Eddy (Author)

Synopsis

Quilted Planet is divided into different geographical areas and looks at how patchwork and quilting traditions have evolved around the world, as well as specific techniques unique to specific regions. Techniques featured include those from the USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, India, Central America, Egypt, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France, and Scandinavia. Interspersed with these features on specific techniques are contemporary quilts that show how these methods have been used and evolved from their cultural roots, so for today's quilters there are no geographical constraints. For example, a German quilter might be inspired to incorporate a Japanese technique with a European design. At the back of the book is an International Gallery of Quilts, sourced from countries around the world. There is a brief introduction to basic quilting and patchwork techniques and tools, as well as a glossary and comprehensive resource section.
