( The Mammoth Book of Best Crime Comics ) includes many classic stories, including Mickey Spillane (Mike Hammer), Will Eisner (the Spirit), Dashiell Hammett and Alex Raymond (Secret Agent X-9) and ones from a newer generation of writers and artists, Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore and Paul Grist...the book has a very nice balance of the best writers and artists in genre. As an overview, you can't go wrong with this book.
