Media Reviews
Virginia Lee Burton, author of such classic children's books as The Little House and Katy and the Big Snow, offers a touching portrait of love and dedication while commenting on the modernization that continuously shapes our lives. www.bettybookmark.co.uk Pictures and words combine appropriately to leave the same sense of satisfaction you get at the end of a good meal. Carousel This race against time story, as Mike and his team shovel dig the foundations for the new town hall, leaves you breathless. Ingenious, with a perfect twist at the end. -- Michael Morpurgo Junior This story of friendship, working together for a common goal, and the belief that together Mike and Mary Anne can do anything reinfirces the concepts of loyalty, determination and notgiving up on what you believe in. The illustrations are remarkable, all the more so because they were created with the same sort of wax crayons that children find in their crayon boxes today. However, it is the ingenious plot and clever ending that holds the reader's attention and keeps children coming back for more. -- Julia Eccleshare 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up
