Media Reviews
The familiar story of Queen Esther has been ably retold by Jenny Koralek and richly illustrated by Grizelda Holderness to the high standards one expects from Frances Lincoln Children's Books. Koralek deftly steps the line between the over-written language that is a danger when retelling the Jewish classics and the patronising simplification of some classroom texts, to produce a gift book that will enchant both children and adults. Holderness's spicy-toned illustrations perfectly evoke the Persian setting. Jewish Chronicle One of the best ways to introduce children to bible stories is through picture books and Queen Esther is a beautiful example. INIS This very readable text is almost over-shadowed by Grizelda Holderness's glorious full page illustrations which use rich colours of red, blue and brown and bold sweeping figures to convey the atmosphere of the story. It must be one of the best picture books I have seen for some time. School Librarian
