This book draws it inspiration based on the tale of Noah's Ark from the Old Testament and while some of the projects are just cuddly toys, some of the others have practical functions. The collection of sewing projects is both appealing and full of fun and embrace traditional sewing methods, quilting and applique, which will provide beautiful items for you and your home. There are 22 projects to choose from, all with clear step-by-step instructions, attractive hand-drawn diagrams and gorgeous photographs. The projects include cloth dolls, animals, cushions, placemats, wine bottle covers, basket liners and even a tea-time recipe. As I am writing this, it has not stopped raining for days so very topical for the book... whatever happened to `flaming June'?

I initially thought this book was one big project - to make Noah's Ark and then instructions on making the different animals to go into it but it is in fact a collection of projects inspired by the Noah's Ark theme. The projects include duck door stops, sheep cushions, roller skating mice, rabbit hot water bottle covers, various animal soft toys and quirky Noah's ark cushions which have a big pocket for little animals to be put into. There are detailed instructions accompanied by colourful hand drawn diagrams and pictures to guide you through the making process. Unfortunately the cover image looks a bit drab which could put people off but the photography is more vibrant inside the book. Unlike most craft books the templates are not in the back but are next to each project so it saves you flicking between 2 sections of the book. Some of the projects at the end of the book seem a little unrelated as they aren't animal or Noah's ark themed, but they are nice projects including a floral patchwork picnic blanket and a pretty sun hat. It just feels like they ran out of themed projects so put these in to fill the space. However, I have to say it is a nice project book with some very cute animals, my 4 year old wants me to make them all for him!

Noah's Ark: Sewing, Quilting & Applique for You & Your Home by Anne-Pia Godske Rasmussen, is a good choice for me since I have a Noah who loves sewing! Noah is 6 and has used my sewing machine to make himself a bag, bunny sleeping bag and patchwork blanket. Together we have been checking out this gorgeous book! His opinion of the book is: Cool! The book is packed full of patterns of gorgeous animals for your Ark. Each one has wonderful clothing and will make great presents for Christmas - between us Noah and I have sorted out gifts for all his friends! There are also patterns for bunny hot water bottles and Herring bags! Noah and I can't wait to get making from the book!
