Here's the ideal introduction to the traditional art of calligraphy. Maureen has produced the perfect handbook for helping you develop and create your own original calligraphic style and to enjoy the art of beautiful writing. The six most common writing styles are explained clearly through step-by-step photographs. Every letter of every hand is drawn out in stroke order and there's advice on letter and word spacing, all shown in clear, step-by-step photographs.-Machine Knitting Monthly I recall my gran having beautiful copperplate writing and mums was a very rounded uniform style but when I was taught to write it was as it seems to be now - a simple find your own style that results in no style at all and far too often in a total untidy scrawl. It's a shame that styles aren't taught in school but you can remedy that with this simple little book which gives a brief history of writing - very interesting and informative and then moves on to explain how to write in six different styles including my beloved Copperplate! Maureen tells us how to hold the pen and load it, how to work out how high each letter should be, what the different parts of the letter are called and for me the very best is the simple 1-2-3 steps she uses for each letter so its easy to know just where to start and how to form the shapes. Ever wanted to improve your handwriting? Well now you can with Maureens super book.-JeannieZelos.com
