The Acrylic Paint Colour Wheel Book (Colour Wheel Books)

The Acrylic Paint Colour Wheel Book (Colour Wheel Books)

by JohnBarber (Author)

Synopsis

The world's first truly interactive art instruction book, The Acrylic Paint Colour Wheel Book will help anyone who wants to paint in acrylics produce quality art in days. It begins with a look at the equipment you'll need to get started and then describes the basic principles of colour mixing and applying colour.
The book presents a series of eight step-by-step projects designed to teach you the most rewarding acrylics techniques, such as painting alla prima, glazing, painting with a palette knife, using tone, and building up colour; all applied to subjects from still lifes to landscapes, and from people to the natural world. By working through the projects you'll increase your knowledge and confidence and will be able to produce satisfying acrylic art.
Each project also introduces and illustrates the most important technique for the project and gives at-a-glance advice on colour mixing. The colour wheel on the jacket allows mixes to be immediately visible, for successful paintings every time.

Media Reviews

April 09

This is the sister volume to the previous one on watercolour and, if it follows the success of that, it's a fair bet we'll be raising quite a family. Most of what I said previously applies here. It's a gimmick, but sometimes gimmicks make you sit up and suddenly understand what has previously been a problem subject. I still think that the illustrations are a bit flat, even though the trick paper has gone. Nevertheless, there's a good variety of subject matter and the medium is used in both impasto and as a wash, so you get to see most of the techniques you'll want.
