This is a straightforward, basic book that would be an ideal starting point for somebody new to the hobby who wants to start with something simple. The photo is the star on each page rather than fancy techniques or expensive embellishments, and the plain, understated layouts are very effective. There are some more adventurous projects in here as well and some refreshingly unusual ideas such as the Christmas recipe book (my own favorite) or the journal jar which is simple to make and would make a grand gift for a fellow scrapbooker. Themes to explore include the Nativity play, decorating the tree, a child's first Christmas, the beauty of winter nature etc. The pages dealing with what you need look a bit daunting, so it is best to read the book through (it won't take long) first to put into perspective what you truly need and want to buy. A user friendly, basic primer that gets your creative juices flowing a treat.
