by Keith Brown (Editor)

Synopsis

Written as a series of self-contained chapters, this book supports students' learning. Offering a number of differing and thought-provoking viewpoints, it takes the reader beyond pure facts and encourages them to engage with the client group and to reflect upon their practice in a more meaningful way. This new book is written by experienced practitioners, in order to support students undertaking post-qualifying social work awards in the field of community care and working with vulnerable adults. Recent government policy has effected significant change in this area, which is reflected in the choice of topics covered by this text (including welfare policy, empowerment, mental health in later life and adult protection for vulnerable adults). The book is written as a series of self-contained chapters which support students' learning throughout the course. By offering a number of differing and thought-provoking viewpoints, the book takes the reader beyond pure facts and encourages them to engage with the client group and to reflect upon their practice in a more meaningful way.
