Deep Water

Deep Water

by Turnbull Ann (Author)

Synopsis

When Jon agrees to skip school with Ryan, they steal a boat and go rowing on the local river. But they hit some rocks and Ryan is badly hurt. Jon must go and get help, but he's so worried about getting into trouble that he doesn't tell anyone, convincing himself that Ryan will be found. Soon, the police are involved, the pressure is mounting, and Jon realizes the gravity of what he has done - and what he must do now. Three days after the accident, he runs to the place where he left Ryan - and, thankfully, finds him just alive.

Author Bio
Ann Turnbull has written numerous books for young readers, including the popular title Pigeon Summer, which was shortlisted for the Smarties Book Prize and the WHSmith Mind-Boggling Books Award, and has been dramatized for television by Channel 4. She says of Deep Water, Jon tells a lie and then struggles to escape its consequences. I found it fascinating to put myself in his place and imagine how he would react as events closed in on him.
