Cath Kidston in Print

Synopsis

Now firmly established as one of Britain's leading and most loved designers, Cath Kidston's pioneering approach to interior design has earned her international acclaim. Taking her primary inspiration from vintage printed fabrics, her designs evoke a nostalgia that touches anyone who sees it - for childhood, for cosiness, for cheerful, happy, innocent fun. Her trademark prints re-work these classic pieces to give them a fresh, contemporary appeal so that they sit perfectly within a room without overpowering the space. In her new book, In Print, Cath tells you how to use prints in your home in every way imaginable. Each spread in this fabulous, practical style book will feature a different print - some vintage and some from Cath's collections - together with ideas as to how they can be used. A pink and blue rose-covered oilcloth tablecloth covers a plain wooden table in an otherwise white kitchen, little polka dot cushions sit on plastic 60's chairs in an office space, big fluffy flowery bath towels make a statement in a white bathroom. At the other end of the scale, layers of different prints envelop you in the living room and bedroom with loose covers, cushions, pillows quilts and wallpaper. Rather than detailed step-by-step instructions, every page is packed with hints and tips to show the reader how to create their own unique look.

Author Bio
Cath Kidston began her career as an interior designer and opened her first shop in London's Notting Hill in 1993, which featured old junk furniture and vintage fabrics. This passion for the past has shaped the Cath Kidston design vision, and the ability to translate this love into prints and modern images has allowed the company to grow while other trends come and go. Cath now oversees an empire that stretches from the US to Japan, Australia to Denmark. In addition to her signature florals and spot print fabrics, Cath Kidston has developed a wide range of products in response to a growing demand. Everything from bags, cushions, t-shirts, nightwear and babygrows are all part of her ever-expanding product range. Cath has also published two previous books: Vintage Style and Tips for Vintage Style.
