Underwater Photography: Basic Principles, Equipment, Maintenance

Underwater Photography: Basic Principles, Equipment, Maintenance

by Annemarie Kohler (Author)

Synopsis

Still photography and videography enable the diver to permanently capture and later share their experiences of the extraordinary beauty and diversity of the underwater realms. However, in order to produce memorable, high-quality images, it is vital that divers have a thorough understanding of photographic equipment and techniques. Divided into four sections - Introducing Underwater Photography, Still Photography, Videography and The Complete Photographer - this book is a comprehensive guide to understanding the basics of photography, choosing the right photographic equipment, making the best use of that equipment, and using underwater conditions to your best advantage. Detailed tables and charts provide easy reference for correct exposure settings, while diagrams and comparative photographs illustrate technical points such as depth of field, bracketing, and how to avoid parallax error. Video postproduction is also covered.

Author Bio
Annemarie Kohler is an ardent diver and photographer. She has researched reef life intensively over many years and, true to her belief the Nature is our greatest teacher, she now shares this knowledge freely with all nature lovers. She has long passed the 1000-dive mark but, unlike her youngest daughter and dive buddy, no longer logs her dives, preferring to pen short articles on her experiences. Danja Kohler is a qualified full-time dive instructor for two international dive associations. She is also a talented, self-taught underwater photographer. Danja, too, passed the 1000-dive mark a long time ago, but still faithfully logs each one.
