Learn to Knit

Learn to Knit

by PennyHill (Author)

Synopsis

Knitting has always been a popular needlecraft - incredibly versatile, simple to learn as well as being a great way to reduce stress. However, it has recently become fashionable again as a retro phenomenon as more young people are taking it up in the wake of celebrity knitters such as Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz. Learn to Knit is the perfect guide for the complete beginner, starting with the basics such as casting on and making simple stitches and then moving on to more complicated stitches, shaping garments and creating motifs. Each of the techniques is shown in clear step-by-step photographs with concise instructions and is followed by a project so the reader can build up skills as progress is made through the book. A whole range of delightful items, from fashion accessories to things for the home, can be made following the techniques explained, from a simple baby's scarf and hat in soft pastels to a striped children's cardigan or a set of smart knitted cushions in soft creams and greys.
