Dr. Geraldine Mitton's Anti-ageing Handbook: Practical Steps to Staying Youthful

by Dr . Geraldine Mitton (Author)

Synopsis

In recent years the focus has shifted from growing old beautifully to growing old youthfully, with the emphasis on retaining functionality in one's senior years. In 1900, the average life expectancy was 47 years. Today, in developed countries, it has risen to an average of 76 years and is predicted to be 85 years by the year 2050. We are living longer and there is a global trend towards selfcare, wellness and improved physical appearance as well as the use of natural therapies in preference to pharmaceutical drugs, many of which have harmful side effects. Anti-ageing cosmetics and supplements are promoted in most popular magazines. Rejuvenation and anti-ageing programmes feature at most international health resorts. This title incorporates scientific medical information and a mind-body-spirit approach, arming the reader with the tools and insight to age youthfully.
