Synopsis

Throwing a party is about getting friends and family together and having fun and canapes are a perfect party food - tempting mouthfuls of flavour and colour that put us in a good mood for the evening ahead. And what better way to mingle with your guests than to hand round a tray of beautifully presented morsels of food? The canapes in this book are full of flavour and each a little meal in itself. Almost anything can be adapted into a miniature bit and with so many ingredients to choose from and culinary influences from all over the world, there are hundreds of things that can be prepared for a party, whether it is a formal drinks party or a casual get-together with friends. For the modern cook timing is often an issue but the recipes in this book show that creating canapes doesn't have to be laborious and time-consuming. With over 50 recipes, from mini bangers and mash to tempura prawns to garlic bruschetta with roast beef and coriander cream cheese, this book should be a source of inspiration for the party-giver.

Media Reviews
Providing finger food for large numbers can be daunting and often, in fear of appearing mean, too many different ones are presented making the choice overly-varied for guests. A large number of appealing canapes using variations on maybe only two or three kinds looks far more attractive and means people can quickly see what is on offer without stopping a conversation to make their mind up. This attractive, little book offers a wealth of tantalising ideas from spicy to herby, traditional to extra-special. Filo parcels with fish, cheese or meat, mini fondues and skewers; oysters and caviar for extra special occasions and brownies and creme brulees for sweet treats. You'll find something for everyone and every taste clearly explained and photographed here. Inspirational and often innovative, authors and friends Abigail Brown and Melissa Webb share their years of experience to help you enjoy your party as much as your guests. A useful book for party-givers to have on their kitchen shelf. - Lucy Watson
