Media Reviews
Frances Thomas packs an enormous amount into this very entertaining story. Megan wants to be a vet when shes older, but in the meantime she concentrates on being a detective in her small village, inspired by her father who writes detective stories. She doesnt have only one mystery to solver either: despite her cousin Sophies claim that nothing happens in a village, Megan has to find a home for a cat, discover who attacked a neighbours dog and identify the house that an aging rock star used to visit when he was a child. Then, worst of all, Megans favourite horse, Seren, is stolen. Megan is clever, patient and brave. She is also a very good cook, and several recipes are included (which I thought was a lovely extra touch, even if they did make me very hungry while reading the book). She could have been too good to be true in the hands of a less experienced writer, but Frances Thomas makes her believable and great company, and brings all the other people in the village to vivid life. This is a great read for any fans of detective stories or animal stories, and I hope Megan will have many more adventures to come.
