A fitting finish to Tanith's tale, rounding up loose ends, and also providing an entirely new setting for her to inhabit. Everyone is fascinated by the legends of King Arthur and Camelot, and this is a great new take on the old story. Gwenhwyfar is a spoiled brat, mostly ignored by Arthur, who is ageing and unobservant, while Lancelot is terrified of the Queen's attentions. Into the middle of this falls Tanith, who has to hide her magical skills while waiting to be rescued. Her fantastical situation is complemented by a very real-life problem namely, her rage at being taken for granted by her boyfriend, who expects her to marry him without having a proper proposal! The charmingly chatty style brings us firmly into the story. Tanith talks to the reader like an old friend a style which has grown more popular since The Princess Diaries (although I think Sullivan was doing it first!) This will appeal to teenage girls, and, although there are a lot of other books in the series, it is not necessary to have read them to enjoy this one. I enjoyed it so much, I read it all in one go! The cover is fantastic too! A recommended read. Jenny Sullivan now lives in Brittany but returns to Wales often, the country which inspires much of her work. As well as writing for children and adults she spends much of her time visiting schools and libraries holding workshops to encourage children to write. Jenny won the WBC 2006 Tir na N'Og Award for the best English-language book for children for her historical novel Tirion's Secret Journal.
