The author is well-known for her work with children and has featured in several educational videos. She devised the Channel 4 TV series on storytelling, By Word of Mouth , (1990) and her radio programme on storytelling for BBC Wales Education was broadcast in 1999. The storyteller's ability to capture and captivate her audience comes to the fore in this novel.
