Author Bio
Hans Christian Andersen, the Danish storyteller, was born in 1805. Although he was the son of a poor shoemaker, he longed to make his living by writing. After many struggles, he became known as a poet, but today it is his fairy tales that are best loved. Jacob Ludwig Carl Grimm and brother Wilhelm Carl published their first collection of folk and fairy tales, collected from all over Germany, in 1812. Today, their stories are part of a heritage of folk and fairy tales shared across borders and languages. Nicola Baxter has written or compiled over three hundred titles. In this volume she has sensitively retold the fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen and The Brothers Grimm for young readers. Cathie Shuttleworth was trained in calligraphy, heraldry and illumination, but her real love is illustrating children's books.
