  This book celebrates the once mighty Yorkshire coal industry as illustrated by the material held in the National Monuments Record in Swindon. It does not seek to be a history of that industry or comprehensively catalogue the material in the archive. Rather, it is a personal, and evocative, selection of images conveying the breadth and feel of material that has come together in a somewhat unsystematic fashion reflecting the increasing public awareness and interest in industrial buildings since the 1960s.
