The Demon Assassin: Book 2 (Hell's Underground)

by Alan Gibbons (Author)

Synopsis

Having once risked everything precious to him to halt King Lud's progress from the ancient bowels of London to the city's modern streets, teenage Paul Rector knows his task is far from over. Paul also knows that, like his brother John and his great uncle Harry, he is both demon and man. Will it be fate that decides which side wins out? To find out, Paul takes Hell's Underground back to London of the Blitz in World War II and becomes involved in defeating Harry Rector's plot to assassinate Prime Minister Churchill. His main weapons are fire and fear. Along the way, he learns more about the Rector curse and once again endangers not only his own life, but that of the people he comes to regard as a second family.

Book Overview: SCARED TO DEATH has sold over 7,000 copies in hardback - readers everywhere were bewitched by its collectible format, striking cover and pocket money price point. Acclaim for SCARED TO DEATH: 'entertainingly gruesome stuff' (Daily Telegraph); 'very definitely scary... builds tension slowly and cleverly and is ultimately a more rewarding read for it' (The Bookbag). HELL'S UNDERGROUND is Alan Gibbons at his best - a blend of the vivid, breathtaking fantasy (of the Legendeer stories, winner of the Blue Peter Book Award) and the gritty, urban realism of his Carnegie-shortlisted titles (such as The Edge and Caught in the Crossfire). Each volume timeslips back to a fascinating period of British history, familiar to readers through KS2 Curriculum links. Sales of Alan Gibbons' titles exceed half a million copies. Alan continues to draw legions of fans to events at festivals and in schools and is in demand the world over for his engaging personal appearances.
