Boobela and Worm, Ace Detectives

Boobela and Worm, Ace Detectives

by Joe Friedman (Author), Sam Childs (Illustrator)

Synopsis

The world of Boobela and Worm is one of special magic - the kind that comes from the heart and head, not from spellbooks. But it's also rooted in the every day experiences that make growing up so challenging and memorable. Their fourth book of stories sees them sharpen their wits as they turn detective to rumble a dognapper, as well as exploring each other's deepest thoughts as they unravel the dreams that trouble them. But there's laughter and play and the chance - as always - to make new friends and explore the physical world around them - from the city to the swamp and the weirdly wonderful island where Boobela's Gran and Granpa live.

Book Overview: Still with full colour artwork throughout, the BOOBELA series is now in B-format to sit alongside 'confident readers' in the 5-8 section of bookshops. Highly promotable author with a child-friendly website and endless energy for school and festival appearances. Sales are building: the series has sold over 21,000 copies since its March 07 launch. BOOBELA AND WORM was universally well reviewed: 'There are not enough good books for this age range, and Friedman's sympathetic approach will make this one to re-read' (Amanda Craig, The Times). Beautifully illustrated throughout in full colour by acclaimed artist, Sam Childs, this book is a visual delight. Equal appeal for boys and girl - but especially good for putting reluctant boy readers on the path to literacy and enjoyment of reading. In addition to four stories, each book also contains cartoons and insights into Boobela's and Worm's families, friends and interests. Huge potential for adaptation on TV/film and as merchandising.

Media Reviews
This delightful quartet of stories centres around a young giant girl and her earthworm pal, with each tale complemented by beautiful drawings by Sam Childs. JUNIOR
