The Journal of Danny Chaucer

The Journal of Danny Chaucer

by RogerStevens (Author)

Synopsis

Danny Chaucer's journal in verse takes us through a school year in which he sits and dreams of Jenny Keane, loses her to his best friend, listens to music, composes lyrics, forms a band, finds a singer, and lives through the highs and lows of family life, schoolwork and relationships. Pithy, perceptive and often very funny, the journal is an innovative account of the pains and pleasures of growing up, written by a talented poet with a sharp ear for the nuances of contemporary teenage life.

Stevens' Verse is jaunty, knowing and tart and he gets right inside the dark, dark corners of the adolescent male mind. * Guardian, 29 May 2002 *
It's not just another load of teenage musings a la Adrian Mole, but has more depth of feeling. * School Librarian, Autumn 2002 *
Stevens has structured the story ingeniously and many of the poems or song lyrics which make it up are either moving or funny. * Booktrusted News (Booktrust), Autumn 2002 *
A great read with a light touch, sure to appeal to anyone who's going through any form of teenage angst. * Northern Echo, 5 November 2002 *
