Author Bio
Glenn Miles PhD, PGCE, FHEA, MCIEA, MSc. RN, RGN, RSCN. His background is child welfare and child health mainly in Asia (Cambodia, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand). His Masters is in International Child Health from University College London in London and his PhD from the University of Wales was on Cambodia Children's Experiences and Understandings of Violence and Abuse involving Children. He has taught up to post-graduate courses in England, Malaysia, the Philippines and Wales. He has a Diploma in Biblical and Cross cultural and Pastoral Studies from All Nations Christian College and a postgraduate teaching diploma (PGCE-PCET). He is co-author of the Celebrating Children book (Paternoster, 2003). He was involved in piloting and developing the CC course in Cambodia in 2002-5. Then through 2005-9 Glenn was involved with Viva in rolling out the Celebrating Children course through facilitators in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand in Asia and Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe in Africa. He co-ordinated the CC facilitators training in Penang Malaysia in 2007 and in Uganda, Africa in 2009. In 2010-2011 he co-authored the Celebrating Children workbooks. Glenn (since 2008) currently works as Asia Director of Prevention for www.Love146.org based in Cambodia where he is involved in capacity building, mentoring and training a wide range of organizations dedicated to the abolition of sexual exploitation and trafficking of children. Glenn has taught in the Holistic Child Development course at Masters level in MBTS, Penang, Malaysia and at PhD level n APNTS, Manila, Philippines. In 2005 with Tearfund Glenn helped a consortium of NGOs to develop a karaoke video training pack for children on protecting themselves against violence and another on HIV/AIDS. In 2012 with Love146 he helped facilitate the Chab Dai coalition Prevention Forum to develop a Flip chart for school children to prevent sexual abuse. Source: http://www.celebratingchildrentraining.info/contributors.php 13.12.2013 Dr. Josephine-Joy Wright, PhD, currently works as a Chartered Consultant Clinical Psychologist with Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust,specialising in Children and Family work and complex adult neuro-developmental disorders, attachment and trauma. Qualifying in 1984 in Child Psychology (MA), she completed a MSc in Clinical Psychology, a related PhD, adult PGCE, B.Th. from London School of Theology and related training at St John's College, Nottingham etc. An honorary lecturership at Swansea University and Associate Tutor at Moorlands Christian College, she co-facilitated the development of, and teaches on, Masters' courses. She is a trustee of Christian Childcare Forum(UK). She has worked with international disasters since 1989 across numerous contexts, including war-zones, pioneering psycho-social interventions which are now seen as standard practice, developing work with child soldiers. She has worked for many years as an international training consultant with many Christian organizations, including Viva Network UK. Within the latter, she jointly spearheaded the development of the internationally respected Celebrating Children course which equips people to work with children and families, facilitating the working group gleaned from across the world which formulated and piloted the course, being experienced in developing international training courses, including a European-wide Masters. She went on to co-edit, with Glenn Miles, the textbook which equips students and trainers of the course. As well as teaching and ministering in Africa, S.E. Asia, S. America, USA and Europe, she has trained facilitators in Asia and Africa to enable the Celebrating Children course to be taught and enhance good practice globally. Her dream is to change people's understanding and practice long-term, to enable children and adults to be safeguarded and released into their destinies, bringing in God's Kingdom on earth. In addition, through her Well-Connected consultancy, she writes training materials (including a Trainers' manual) and speaks at conferences, developing initiatives in the UK and abroad to catalyze better training of professionals and lay personnel and comprehensive service provision for children, adults and families. She has run and supervised Police Staff Support and Counselling Services and trains teams and individuals in effective relationships within Christian and secular settings, as well as undertaking specialist assessments and therapy with children and adults with neuro-developmental and attachment disorders and traumatic/ abusive life experiences. She has extensive experience training and supervising prayer and prophetic ministry, Christian counselling and pastoral care teams, working with adults and youth in churches and the community. She has assisted in the development of Christian retreat centres in the UK, recently becoming a trustee of Trelowarren Christian Retreat Centre in Cornwall. She has a specialist practice in counselling traumatized missionaries and Christian leaders and advising churches and organizations in staff care and healthy dynamics to promote psycho- spiritual maturity, communities of healing and effective witness in the world.
