by Ivan Ponting (Author), Ian Callaghan (Foreword), Steve Hale (Author)

Synopsis

Liverpool in Europe is the complete story of twenty-three seasons in Europe with one of the finest club sides world soccer has ever seen. Staring in 1964/65, during the glorious reign of Bill Shankly, Liverpool enjoyed twenty-one consecutive seasons of European competition. During this golden era Liverpool FC appeared in eight European finals, winning the European Cup on four occasions and the Uefa Cup twice. This is a record that no other British club has approached. Now Liverpool are back and what better time to reflect on the years of success, the great nights at Anfield and in the four corners of Europe than in the Club's first season in the Champions League after a 2000/01 season that saw the club lift the Uefa Cup for the third time. First published in 1992 Liverpool in Europe is brought stunningly up to date to feature the end of the Souness era, the Evans/Houllier partnership and the glorious season of 2000/01. Each chapter features an animated narrative on the events of the time and match by match reports for each European fixture. The book is stunningly illustrated with photographs from the collection of photographer Steve Hale with the very best action photography from Allsport.
