English Monks and the Suppression of the Monasteries

by Geoffrey Baskerville (Author)

Synopsis

'Mr Baskerville's learned inquiries on the dispossessed religious have in recent years pointed the way to a more scholarly treatment of the Suppression of the Monasteries. In this work, which is designed for the wider public, he covers more ground, surveying the last two or three generations of monks and the causes of the Suppression, besides touching on the consequences of that act to the country at large' ENGLISH HISTORICAL REVIEW First published in 1937.
