Synopsis

Murray Whelan thinks the everyday life of a political advisor is complicated enough: but now there are intimations of intrigue among the party powerful and his ex-wife is mounting a custody battle over his beloved son. So when you throw in a Turk snap-frozen in a local meat plant, drugs planted under the bed, fascist funeral rites, a killer car and blood-sucking parasites, things are suddenly spinning wildly out of control. That's when red-hot Ayisha knocks on the door...

Media Reviews
I look forward to the next Murray Whelan book with the same anticipation of pleasure that I feel for the new Carl Hiaasen or Elmore Leonard. Sydney Morning Herald; Like an Aussie Rebus, he is cynical but smart, punch-drunk but dogged - clearly his creator's alter ego... like Philip Marlowe but with a more extensive knowledge of antipodean local government. Sunday Herald; An engaging read, with our hero displaying an all-too human mix of brains and stupidity. Peppered throughout with deft and amusing one-liners. Big Issue
