It was defended by a legendary collection of volunteers under Colonel William Travis and the famous adventurer Jim Bowie (he of the knife), and included David Crockett.

Dr Stephen L Hardin is a senior research fellow for the Texas State Historical Association in Austen, Texas, and the author of numerous scholarly articles on the history of his state. Angus McBride needs little introduction, having established himself over the years as one of the world's most respected and talented artists in his field. He has illustrated a wide array of Osprey titles, covering subjects as diverse as the Geman Army of World War 2 and the Ancient Assyrians - a versatility that is the envy of many, but the pleasure of more.
