This is an irresistible guide to combining old and new in your home with confidence and style. Katherine Sorrell shows how to add interest with unexpected or individual pieces - a portrait that was a lucky junk-shop find, pieces of 1960s glass from a market stall, a gilt-framed mirror that belonged to your grandmother. Spotting a gem at auction or a carboot sale is very satisfying, and lots of fun. Even better, you won't see it anywhere else - unlike items bought on the high street. The main part of the book, Spaces , takes you through every room in the house, showing how to combine old and contemporary objects to create a home that is entirely original, as well as comfortable, practical and stylish.
