Cycling - A Year Round Plan

by PaulvandenBosch (Author)

Synopsis

Training obviously means much more than kicking the pedals as hard and as long as possible. Efficient training demands a clear insight in the right set-up of the training, the right training intensity, and the constant interplay of effort and relaxation. Cycling - A Year Round Plan sheds light on the most important aspects of bike training, especially from a practical point of view. Paul Van Den Bosch deals with all training components of cycling training in a sound and yet very understandable way. The first chapters try to follow the preparation of a cyclist chronologically, starting from the end of the last competition phase till the beginning of the new one. This period is the most important one regarding preparation. Items covered are: how does a cyclist set up his training, what about strength training, how to determine the training intensity etc. These items are fully illustrated with examples of training schedules, and every amateur cyclist can adapt these schedules to his own needs. Questions about overtraining are also answered, and special attention is given to the nutrition of the cyclist, before, during, and after the ride. The training advice covered in this book has already proven its soundness, both for many of the best amateurs in Belgium and for lots of professionals. Fully illustrated, it also includes examples of training schedules.
