Running: The Basics

Running: The Basics

by Carl - Jurgen Diem (Author)

Synopsis

Running is the simplest of the basic sports. Efficient running requires coordination, strength, endurance as well as mobility. In daily practice, however, the idea that the more the better is more common both at grass roots and at elite level, than an understanding of optimal training methods. This book presents the basics of the cardio-vascular system, energy preparation, and the biomechanical aspects of running in an easily understood form. Advice on clothing, running in different weather conditions and times of the day as well as ideas for compensation exercises, nutrition, injury prevention, etc. complete the contents of this book.
