Media Reviews
Here is rich common sense for anyone wanting to pray. It's the kind of book you wish you'd come across years ago. Read it, be encouraged, be refreshed - and then read it again every so often as a reminder of how profoundly simple and life-giving prayer can be. The Rt Revd John Pritchard, Bishop of Oxford From The Good Bookstall - June 2011 Do you want to pray, and don't know where to start? Or, do you want to make prayer more central in your life? Then this is the book for you. Henry French introduces different types of prayer - giving how-to examples, questions for reflection, journaling suggestions and ideas for practice. His theme is, 'You can only learn to pray by praying'. His final chapter is on 'Contemplative Prayer' which - Surprise! Surprise! is not for special people only, but for everyone. He believes our communion with God needs to be nourished with practice and says if we do our practice well, we become our prayer, and it could also be said of us, 'You are love'. That is what faith is all about. Reviewed by Celia Rees
