Living Church: Exploring the Christian Church Today

Living Church: Exploring the Christian Church Today

by Murray Mc Bride (Author)

Synopsis

School trips offer many opportunities for creative learning, but often overlook that treasure house of history, faith and culture available on the doorstep: the local Christian church. The Living Church project is designed to unite the local Christian church with its local schools and unlock the building and the community it represents as an interactive learning resource for children in Years 2-6. The material teaches children about all the major topics associated with the Christian church, including baptism, the Bible, prayer, Holy Communion, music, marriage, funerals, vestments, the churchyard, the worldwide Church and the Christian calendar. The resource includes storytelling scripts for teachers, photocopiable worksheets for children and instructions to construct a model of a typical parish church.
