by Margaret Goldthorpe (Author)
This title aims to give 7-11-year-olds an understanding of the Christian religion through a practical and experiential exploration of the moral and spiritual issues raised in Jesus' teaching in "The Sermon on the Mount". Each issue raised is further illustrated by a parable or story from the Gospels, which also has a matching "circle time". In these circles, children of all faiths and none are encouraged to consider the moral and ethical implications of Jesus' advice for their own lives and asked to think about making plans of action to manage these problems in the light of an increased understanding of their own behaviour. Issues explored include: how we deal with peer pressure; learning to admit we were wrong; handling a desire to show off; and accepting apologies with good grace.
