The Book of Greek Cooking

The Book of Greek Cooking

by Lesley Mackley (Author)

Synopsis

Greek food is simple, colourful and packed with robust flavours. Although many dishes show influences from Greece's past, particularly Arab, Turkish and Italian, they have a distinctive style of their own - a style which has changed little over the years. Greece has a long tradition of fine cooking and the full range of delicious dishes often remains undiscovered by the holidaymaker. The Greek diet, like that of other Mediterranean countries, is extremely healthy, being low in processed foods and animal fats, and is based on the availability of local produce: wheat products such as bread, pastry and pasta, fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and olive oil. The Book of Greek Cooking brings you a mouthwatering collection of over 100 recipes, each one illustrated in full colour and with step-by-step instructions, making it the perfect guide to cooking authentic Greek dishes. Some are familiar favourites, while others are less well-known, but all are guaranteed to bring a little Mediterranean sunshine to your menu
