by Margaret Mulvihill (Author)
A collection of stories for children about the bravery and faith of Christian saints and martyrs. The saints and martyrs start with those that surround Christ himself, through those that were persecuted during the Roman Empire, to those that formed the religious orders and developed Christian thinking. Final sections in the book look at the continuing process of canonisation carried out by the Catholic church, as well as providing a calendar of the saints. Some of the saints and martyrs featured include Mary and Joseph, Peter and Andrew, Matthew, Mark and Luke, John the Baptist, Christopher and Veronica, Anthony of Egypt, Martin of Tours, and Nicholas and Basil.
