Author Bio
Maxim Gorky (1868-1936) was a Russian writer who was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize. A political opponent of the Tsarist regime, he initially supported Lenin's Bolshevik party before becoming disillusioned with Communist Russia in the years after the revolution. Though briefly exiled from the country of his birth, he was able to return there before his death in 1936.
