Author Bio
Paul Terry has taught music from primary to postgraduate level. He was a music examiner for nearly 30 years and has worked as a consultant for several examination boards. He also served as a member of the Secondary Examinations Council and its successor the Schools Examinations and Assessment Council. He was chief examiner for the Oxford and Cambridge Schools Examinations Board (now part of OCR) and he was chief examiner for London Examinations (now part of Edexcel). Paul has co-authored with David Bowman many books in support of A-level music for Rhinegold Education, as well as Aural Matters, Aural Matters in Practice and Listening Matters published by Schott. He has also written Musicals in Focus for Rhinegold Education, and is co-author with William Lloyd of Music in Sequence, Classics in Sequence, Rock in Sequence, and Rehearse, Direct and Play, published by Musonix Publishing. David Bowman was for 20 years director of music at Ampleforth College and was a chief examiner for the University of London Schools Examination Board (now Edexcel) from 1982 to 1998. He now spends more time with his family, horses and dogs. David's publications include the London Anthology of Music (University of London Schools Examinations Board), Sound Matters (co-authored with Bruce Cole, published by Schott), Analysis Matters (two volumes, published by Rhinegold) and many analytical articles for Music Teacher. He is a contributor to the Collins Classical Music Encyclopedia, edited by Stanley Sadie, and is the author of the Rhinegold Dictionary of Music in Sound.
