Media Reviews

The Encylcopedia of Quilting and Patchwork techniques (written by Katherine Guerrier and published by Search Press). Wow! I wish I'd had this book for the start of my City and Guilds! This book covers it all including (but absolutely not limited to): the anatomy of a quilt, the tools needed for patchwork and quilting, how to work out your fabric requirements, patchwork block construction, string piecing, speed piecing, suffolk puffs, cathedral windows, crazy patchwork, applique, different quilting methods, finishing methods AND THEN a range of quilts which are displayed thematically including pictorial quilts, texture, pattern and rhythm, improvised quilts and traditional quilts. This really is a must-have for anyone who wants a book which covers it all!! I also think it'd make a great present for anyone interested in sewing so I will definitely be buying a copy for my Mum for Mother's Day next month...in the meantime...this copy is mine!! I am putting away my hand-sewing and digging out my machine to have a go at this Seminole Patchwork angled design!
