Synopsis

When the queen of the land pricks her finger on a needle, the sight of her own blood makes her long for a child with skin as white as snow and lips as red as blood. But soon after little Snow White is born, death claims her poor mother and her father finds himself a new queen. Envious of her step-daughter's great beauty, the new queen orders for her to be led into the forest and killed. But by a twist of fortune, Snow White finds herself instead in the care of seven kindly dwarfs. This new circle of friends will soon prove to be her lifeline, for the queen is no fool and her evil deeds and dark magic know no bounds...

Author Bio
Stella Gurney's previous books include Pinocchio and Puss in Boots (both for Carlton), My Dad, the Hero (Walker), and The Princess Handbook (Templar). She is also co-writer of the best-selling monster-puppet series illustrated by Sam Lloyd, which includes Calm Down, Boris! (Richard & Judy's Best Book for Christmas 2006). Stella lives in Brixton, London and has two young boys. In addition to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Pinocchio for Carlton, Zdenko Basic's books for children include The Tales from Long Ago and The Cleverest Spider. He received a prize at the first Croatian Biennale of Illustration and also won the Best Young Artist in Croatia award. In addition to his books, Zdenko works as a costume designer, scenographer and graphic designer. Born in Croatia, his work has been displayed at illustration exhibitions in Zagreb, Bratislava and Tehran.
