Synopsis

This book, Managing Human Capital in Today's Globalization: A Management Information System Perspective, explores important issues in human capital in human resource management as it relates to management information systems (MIS). It highlights when management information systems are implemented or changed and how the responsibilities of organizational members can be drastically altered. It discusses employee resistance as one of the main outcomes of this process and offers several behavioral strategies that can be implemented to involve employees in adopting effective MIS and in overcoming the resistance during change.

The authors look at the available research and focus on the changing skills requirements of employees in the context of both MIS perspectives and HRM perspectives. They address how current trends have evolved into a hyper-emerging market of competitive advantage and fast-changing environments toward globalization.

The volume begins with an introduction to and definition of HRM and MIS, the linkage between the two, and goes on to look at changing skills requirements from an MIS perspective.

Several case studies are included to strengthen the authors' findings.
