We all know how much children enjoy counting down the days to Christmas with an advent calendar, so why don't we have similar calendars for other events, such as birthdays, holidays and the arrival of a new baby? Create new traditions in your family by stitching a countdown calendar for annual events or one-off big occasions. In this book you'll find instructions for 24 countdown calendars. Ten of them are advent calendars with unique pockets: small slippers, semi-circles, Suffolk puffs and the like. Australian Louse Papas (who created the popular Tickle the Turtle for Homespun Vol 10 No 9) has her advent calendar made in natural linen with red and white embellishments included, and it's one of our favorites. The other projects acknowledge the excitement leading up to a range of events - there are bound to be several that occur regularly in you family.
